Ekayana Tendai Sangha

The Ekayana Tendai Sangha was founded in 2003 by a small group of German and Austrian Buddhists formerly belonging to the Jodo Shinshu tradition. It remains a small sangha project composed of friends and interested people. Kosho J. Wack and Daishin A. Willfahrt are spreading Tendai teachings in three different ways:

  • In a meditation room (Nyoirin An) - situated in a private house in Nauheim near Frankfurt airport - they invite the public to attend Shi Kan Meditations for beginners and dharma talks every fortnight. Currently, meetings are held on Saturdays, from 6:30-8:30 pm.
  • Ekayana Tendai Sangha takes part in the social and interreligious activities of the Southern Bavarian Buddhist center, ShinDo, which Daishin co-founded. This organization works closely with the German Buddhist Association (DBU.)
  • In Vienna, in the autumn of 2004, we started an ongoing public Tendai Seminar, entitled “From Buddha Nature to the Way of the Bodhisattva.” A Tendai curriculum is currently in development, based mainly on the works of the German Tendai bishop and scholar, Bruno Petzold.
